I completed a Fine Art degree at Kingston College of Art and participated in exhibitions and Public Art projects in London.  I studied History of Art at London University whilst teaching portraiture and sculpture in adult education.

I taught Art in secondary schools and initiated art projects in schools for deaf children publishing an article on how animation and model-making could aid with language development. Since 1998 I worked as Head of Art in a school for children with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties and, whilst teaching there, Barrington Stokes commissioned me to write a series of accessible books on major movements of Art.

My watercolours focus on capturing the various moods and seasons of the beautiful countryside and coastline hereabouts as well as in France and Cornwall.  I also enjoy working in oils, sculpting and print-making, including stone lithography. I continue to deepen my understanding of the human form through life drawing and my practice of Yoga and Tai Chi.  These studies inspire my paintings of figures in movement as well as ceramic sculptures.

My recent paintings in oil are based on the effects of light in landscape, particularly focussing on the power and magic of water.  On recent travels in Wales and Catalonia I visited waterfalls and pools where people find tranquillity and refreshment.  I am fascinated by the effect of light on the surface and depth of water as well as the awe-inspiring rock formations which surround many of these pools.  Some of my images have evolved using more abstracted forms and vivid colour.  This accentuates for me the mystery and energy of the natural world.
